ASP ChatNow v2
ASP ChatNow v2 has been completely recoded from scratch. This new chatroom has the look and feel of a Java or Flash based chatroom but is only Javascript and HTML. Meaning that anyone with a recent browser such as IE or FireFox can use the chat without having to install or run any Applets or Flash.

Whats New?
- Private Message Windows: Users can now launch private message windows and invite other users to the chat.
- Database Logins: You can now use databases to require members and visitors to login to the chat before they enter.
- Member API has also been coded into this version. How it works is you can reconfigure a certain file to use any database structure for a required login. This file can also be setup for extra stuff like updating a database if someone changes settings, such as a avatar, it will be used the next time the person logs in.
- Admin Functions as pretty much the basic such as Kick and Ban based of IP address. You can also configure "reserved names" so if you dont want someone logged in as your name you can prevent that. You can also select words to add to a language filter.
- "Windows for Pages" i like to call it. The chat only uses two pages, the chat itself, and the private messages. The login page, settings page, web cam page, and a few others are all on the same page. So when you login, logout, or change settings there is no pop up windows or other pages to load. Since there are no other pages to load, changing settings and loging out or loging in seem instant. I hope this is clear, its kind of hard to explain without seeing it first hand.
- The "AJAX" Engine:Depending on what you consider "AJAX", this is a AJAX chatroom. I have spent probably hundreds of hours of looking through books, websites, and code to come up with a new engine for this chatroom. I have tested it on IE, FireFix, and Opera (still need to find a Mac to test throughly). Any browser should be able to run this chatroom without any problems (after its done!). If a browser doesnt support the XMLHTTP object, it uses iframes as a backup (older versions of Opera and IE Mac have to use iframes).
- The Clientside and Serverside code is completely seperate. This means that in the future, not to distint future, the Serverside engine could be coded in PHP, ASP.Net, or anything else that floats your boat. Mabye after the final version is done i can make a attempt to code it in PHP or something (unless someone else does it).
- A possible "live support" chat! The way the chat is coded, or at least will be done fully done, is that someone could use the chat as a live support chat for their website. This means that you could dont have to spend a butt load of money to get a live support chat for your website! I know im sick of paying all those companys $100+ a month for a live support chat.
- There are so many improvements that this page could go on and on and on, but if you want to check it out head over to the iPortalX Chat
